Culture
Oct 04th to 07th | 20:00 - 24:00 @Multiple Locations • PRISMA
PRISMA 2023 is dedicated to humanity's relationship with nature and is titled 'No Problemo,' an ironic expression recently seen on clothing items and popular in the 90s due to a movie where a cyborg came from the future to save humanity (from itself).
Above all, we can say that 'no problemo' is the expression that best encapsulates the human attitude toward the environment, ignoring the signs that indicate we are on the path to catastrophe due to the excessive exploitation of natural resources and the use of polluting energy sources. In essence, the world has been considered 'always at our service' to fulfill our needs.
In this context, we can remember the many artists who have taken on a more active role, warning of the dangers of a negligent attitude toward nature. This edition of PRISMA acknowledges this by bringing together a group of creators who, through the combination of art and technology, are dedicated to celebrating the natural beauty of our planet. Each in their own way, they show how it is possible to consider a balance among the elements of this complex equation we call life.
Returning to the current trend of using quotes on t-shirts, we suggest an old indigenous saying to remind us that 'we do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.' Or a simpler one, 'big problemo adelante.
