Workshops
Aveiro Tech Week provides for the promotion of several short or long-term workshops, dedicated to different themes, and whose organization is the responsibility of the Aveiro City Council, sponsors or partner entities of the event.
10th to 15th October | 10:00 – 23:00 @Teatro Aveirense (Sala Estúdio) • MTF LABS
Music Tech Fest (MTF) is a global community of over 7000 innovators from a wide spectrum of disciplines and skills who use music as a kind of social glue that binds them together.
At the heart of the MTF ecosystem is the six-day #MTFLabs - an innovation prototyping event - that brings together a select group of experts from the global MTF community working together with a local group of participants, using a wide range of technologies. cutting edge. Participants create hybrid technologies that bring together ideas and tools from different concepts, creating new projects, aesthetic approaches and collaborations. The activities culminate with a demonstration of the newly created works and a live experience for the invited public, with the participation of experts and local participants.
During #MTFLabs, invited experts work closely with participants, favoring a rapid transfer of knowledge and thus allowing for a quick learning curve. In this approach, technologies provided by Music Tech Fest partners and sponsors are used in hybrid innovations, enabling the creation of entirely new market niches.
The theme of MTF Labs Aveiro 2022 is “Ecosystem Living” in which we will challenge participants to consider how human beings can live in communion with the environment that surrounds them.
urban planning because we reject ‘urban’ as a necessary (or even desirable) condition for human habitation. Ecosystem Living transcends the idea of spatial planning, since the focus of spatial planning is limited to the physical space and not the complex interactions between cohabiting species.
Nor is it ecosystem planning because we do not seek to impose order, encourage extractive practices or create the conditions for entirely anthropocentric habitation.
We consider human beings and their activities to be part of nature and not separate from it, and so true ecosystem living is about harmony, alignment and balance, and finding an entire value network within a holistic cohabitation. This balance must synthesise and integrate artistic practice, scientific research, traditional craft professions and local cultural practices.
2022 edition will host various experts, such as Marta de Menezes, Luis Menezes Pinheiro, Jan Åman, DJ Ride e Pedro Almeida and Aveiro will be the centre of connected
satellites linked remotely to different places around the world: Liepaja (Latvia), Lucerne (Switzerland), Singapure, Umea (Sweden) and Toronto (Canada).

Meeting point, designed to bring together artists, technicians and participants of Aveiro Tech Week and simultaneously open to the city and its visitors.
In an informal environment suited to art and technology theme, a space for conviviality and experimentation emerges, where the cultures of coffee and technology intersect to give a unique personality to the space and to promote quality social interactions.
We thus combine - in a space dedicated to comfort and interaction - a bar with specialty coffees and a small open laboratory dedicated to sound experimentation and DIY electronics.

10th to 15th Out • CRIATECH
Criatech - Digital Creativity and Technology is an event that promotes artistic creation and unites digital arts and technology in public and heritage spaces.
Criatech 2022 will probe the “Echoes of the Future”. In a time marked by turmoil, in which the future seems compromised, more and more voices point us to answers. However, listening has lost its rightful place in our relationship with the world. It is therefore proposed that in this edition we listen to the resonances that the future emits from the artifacts of the present. This is because it is known that many of the paths will be defined by technologies, as has always happened in the history of humanity, so the indications of what this future will be are already in their uses.

14th and 15th Out | 20:00 - 24:00 @Multiple Locations • PRISMA
Prisma / Art Light Tech is a festival that has light as a central element. This festival includes several contemporary art installations that include projections, installations and sound and light works, taking place in various spaces in the city with the presence of internationally renowned artists.
This year Prisma is dedicated to the theme “Fortaleza Europa”.
Fortress Europe is a controversial term that was used during World War II by both sides. Each of them in different contexts. After 8 decades, we are not far from this dangerous paradox. Today, Europe is still the great guardian of traditions and democracy, a true stronghold of tradition and freedom. We are able to immediately join forces when one of our allies is in danger, but on the other hand, we argue about migration rules or energy resources. Most of the world today has the privilege of living in an exceptional period but everyone feels how fragile this balance is...
Culture and art are a magical tool that can connect and overcome many obstacles. The city of Aveiro understands how important this tool is an integral part of the European space and one of the reasons to compete for the title of European Capital of Culture and become a better and smarter city.
The main theme of Prisma 2022 “Fortress Europe” reflects the need for the process of creating freedom and remembering how important it is to be connected through ideas and culture.
